The Art of Cinematography: Farrah Fawcett and the Halo Effect

Farrah Fawcett in Cannonball Run

The Cannonball Run is a zany comedy about a group of auto racers competing in a cross country trek from Connecticut to Los Angeles. In addition to Burt Reynolds (who stars as J.J. McClure), Roger Moore, Farrah Fawcett and Dom DeLuise, it features an all-star cast of wacky characters played by the likes of Adrienne Barbeau, Bert Convy, Jamie Farr, Jackie Chan, Mel Tillis, Terry Bradshaw and others. The film is directed by former stuntman Hal Needham, who was known for testosterone-fueled action-comedies like Smokey and the Bandit and was by no means a master of film photography. Nevertheless, as unlikely as it seems and in spite of the genre and subject matter, in Cannonball Run, Needham and cinematographer Michael C. Butler teamed to shoot a handful of gorgeously lit rom/com-like scenes that made the already stunning Farrah Fawcett look positively ethereal.

One of the methods employed was halo lighting, which uses bright, focused backlighting. This technique makes the subject stand out from the background and creates a glowing, halo effect around it. In Cannonball Run, early scenes introducing Farrah's character Pamela Glover use halo lighting to help establish her as the exquisite, almost otherworldly object of J.J.'s desire. Notice how the backlighting helps carve Pamela from the background and draws you in -- much like J.J. is drawn in when he first spots her in a crowded bar.

Later in the film, J.J. and Pamela share a quiet moment in the back of an ambulance and the two become closer. Needham and Butler employ the same sort of halo lighting to create a romantic glow around Farrah. The technique is especially effective with Farrah because it further accentuates one of her best features -- that golden mane of hair for which she's well known.

The soft, warm light creates a form of halation and gives her character an almost angelic quality. A similar result can be seen in the below shot from 1984's The Natural, where halo lighting is used to both set Glenn Close's character apart in the crowded stands of a baseball stadium and also symbolize the sense of goodness and purity her character possesses.

Commercial We Loved: Carl's Jr. Flat Buns

Carl's Jr. was once known for its provocative TV ads featuring scantily clad Paris Hilton, Nina Agdal, Kate Upton and other female models and celebs. It's hard to imagine in today's "Me Too" culture that commercials like these were ever even approved to produce -- much less air and become the identity of the brand. But in bygone days we were treated to not only those aforementioned spots but also the 2007 entry below -- an homage to this sequence from Van Halen's 1984 "Hot for Teacher" music video. In contrast to big butt loving Sir Mix-a-Lot, two high schoolers deliver a clever "whiteboy rap" about their affinity for smaller, "flat buns" -- offered by both the restaurant and their teacher.

The titillating teacher in this commercial is purported to be actress Natassia Malthe, famous for her lead role in the BloodRayne sequels but the resemblance is questionable and there doesn't seem to be any definitive proof of this online. Whatever your opinion about this commercial, with lines like, "Got no heinie, I call you 'your highness', in anatomy class, you got a butt minus", you can't help but laugh.

The Art of Cinematography: Megan Fox in Transformers

Long before she began looking like a porn star, before she underwent what many believe to be (regrettable) cosmetic surgery, before giving birth to three kids, before she began a nonsensicle relationship with MGK, before all the box office flops (Jonah Hex, How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, Midnight in the Switchgrass) and head-scratching side projects (Legends of the Lost), Megan Fox was every high school boy's fantasy come to life -- half girl next door, half sexy head cheerleader and hottest chick in class.

Fox made the Pop Culture Fiend's Ground Floor List way back in 2004 when she was a regular on ABC's Hope & Faith. Prior to Transformers her most high-profile film role was in the Lindsay Lohan vehicle Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, in which she was memorable as the bitchy, vengeful Carla.

But with 2007's Transformers, the 20 year old Fox had her breakout role and positively scorched the screen as Mikaela, the ridiculously gorgeous high schooler from the wrong side of the tracks and the object of Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf's) adoration. Mikaela is beautiful but not conceited, and Fox, who at first seems far too sexy to play a high school girl, pulls off a portrayal where Mikaela becomes more down to earth and approachable the more Sam interacts with her.

In Transformers, Fox's inherent beauty is enhanced and accentuated by the film's director Michael Bay and cinematographer Mitchell Amundsen. Bay's resume' includes Bad Boys, Armageddon and The Rock -- the latter being one the greatest action movies of all time. So whatever you want to say about Bay, the man knows how to shoot churning, frenetic, action. But he also knows how to capture the still beauty of his film's quiet moments. Take a look at this scene from 2001's Pearl Harbor:

It's clear that Bay's cinematographic mastery is not limited to car chases, explosions and CGI'd robots; he is expert at making real people look good -- beautiful in fact. The actors in the scenes above (Josh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale and Ben Affleck) are all flawless.

And you can say the same about Megan Fox in Transformers. Below are just of the few of the shots that lead one to ask the question titling this blog post.

Shout Out to: Dian Parkinson

Now defunct Stuff magazine (the sister publication of Maxim) used to have a department called “Babes of Yore” which would remember female sex symbols of the past (e.g., Heather Locklear, Farrah Fawcett, Raquel Welch.) Stuff is no longer around but in that same spirit this particular entry in the “Shout Out to: series recognizes babe of yore Dian Parkinson.

Dian was one of the three models appearing on The Price is Right game show during its heyday in the 1970s and 80s. Beginning her career as a beauty pageant winner (Miss World USA 1971) Diane started on TPIR four years later and quickly became a favorite among male fans of the show. Recognizing Dian's seductive look and buxom figure, plus sex appeal that came right through the TV screen, TPIR producers made it a point to showcase (no pun intended) her assets on a regular basis. Male viewers would always tune in for the last ten minutes of the show hoping the showcases at the end would include a hot tub, trip to Hawaii, or some other prize that would feature Dian appearing in a bikini. Incredibly, Dian was able to keep her amazing figure well into her 40s.

Regrettably, Dian never branched out to do movie roles, TV guest spots or anything other than TPIR. In 1991 however, Playboy, which had pursued her for years, finally convinced her to pose for their magazine. The result was one of the highest selling issues of all time and a curtain call second pictorial in the May1993 issue. A Playboy newsstand special and celebrity centerfold video followed, but again Dian never capitalized on her popularity and the boost the Playboy publicity gave her. She finally retired from TPIR at age 49 after filing a lawsuit against Bob Barker for sexual harassment. The suit was later dropped and Dian has since disappeared from public life. Still, she apparently remains in the memories of many others — so much so that there are several compilations of her TPIR swimsuit work all over YouTube.

Unbelievably, Dian turns 77 in November but for those who grew up in the 70s and 80s, she remains the ultimate sexy older woman and late morning game show treat.

USC-UCLA "I Love L.A." Music Video

With college football season starting to wind down, this weekend features a full slate of games between the sports' biggest rivals -- Alabama/Auburn, Pittsburgh/West Virgina, Georgia/Georgia Tech, Ohio State/Michigan, Florida/Florida St., and one my personal favorites, USC/UCLA.

In honor of the occasion, I dug into the Pop Culture Fiend Archives and tried to find something relevant. What'd I come up with?...

Two things. An old "Beat UCLA" button I got at the USC bookstore, and this VERY old video of an ABC-TV produced promo for the game.

There was no date on the tape I culled this from but I'm pretty sure it's circa 1989. I was able to deduce this based on clues in the video -- shots of Larry Smith (USC head coach from 1987 to 1992), USC 1989 All-American defensive back Mark Carrier (#7 in the group of players you see at the very beginning), and a cameo from Richard Lewis and Jamie Lee Curtis from the ABC comedy Anything But Love, which premiered in 1989.

I have to say, no matter who you root for in this rivalry, you gotta love this video's highly apropos use of Randy Newman's "I Love L.A." Also, if anyone sees this and can identify the blonde majorette grooving in front of the UCLA band, please hit me up on email cause I've had a crush on her for 20+ years!

Oh, and in case you're wondering, this game ended in a 10-10 tie -- the seventh and final tie in the 82 year old rivalry.

Will the Ultra-Cool The Playboy Club Find Its Audience?

The new fall TV season is here and I'm watching a bunch of new shows like Whitney, Two Broke Girls, How To Be A Gentleman, Pan Am, and probably my favorite debuting series, NBC's The Playboy Club.

In a nutshell, it's Mad Men, meets American Dreams with a smattering of The House Bunny.

Like Mad Men, The Playboy Club features an ensemble cast, and is set in the early sixties in a workplace where all of the male characters are unapologetically misogynistic. The lead character, Nick Dalton (Eddie Cibrian) channels the cool, suave persona of Don Draper and like Draper, has a mysterious and shady past.

The American Dreams comparison refers to the plotlines of that show (which also took place during the 1960s) being set against the backdrop of real life events. American Dreams, for those who don't remember the overlooked but critically acclaimed series, traced the lives of a Philadelphia family as they experienced the tumultuous culture shifts of the 1960's. The JFK assassination, 1964 Philadelphia riots, Vietnam War, and American Bandstand TV show (produced in Philadelphia at the time) were just a few of the many real-life events incorporated into show episodes.

The Playboy Club is set to travel this same historically accurate route, teasing storylines that include the infamous Chicago mob, the Civil Rights Movement, and even the Mattachine Society, one of the country's earliest pro-homosexual organizations.

And there's a lot more going on in The Playboy Club, like the ongoing murder/coverup/investigation of a mafia kingpin, and (also like American Dreams) spot-on recreations of actual musical performances. The premiere episode featured Ike and Tina Turner performing at both The Playboy Club and at Hugh Hefner's Chicago Playboy Mansion. There's also a healthy dose of workplace romance and lots of sexual tension between Cibrian and Laura Benanti who plays Carol, the club's resident den mother (hence, the "House Bunny" comparison.)

But if the primary reason you think you might be interested in this show is for the titillation factor, then you won't be disappointed. There are plenty of sexy, rabbit-eared, cotton-tailed bunnies flitting around. (Hey, you know you've got a sexy show when Jenna Dewan is only the third most attractive female cast member.) The clear standout, however, is the gorgeous Amber Heard as Maureen.

I first noticed Heard in 2008's Never Back Down and since then, she has taken on a series of curious roles in a number of offbeat films (Pineapple Express, Zombieland, The Joneses) presumably waiting for that breakthrough role that will make her a household name. Maybe the upcoming The Rum Diary, in which she co-stars with Johnny Depp, will serve that purpose. But on the other hand, maybe television is where she'll wind up -- at least for awhile.

In any case, there's an awful lot to like about The Playboy Club but you have to wonder if it will last. As a period piece with a large cast, it's an expensive show and will need to garner good ratings in order to survive. How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half Men have helped CBS own Mondays for years, making it more difficult for The Playboy Club to draw the viewers it needs to stay afloat. The debut scored a disappointing 1.6 rating (in the key demographic of 18-49 year olds) and yesterday's episode did slightly worse. Clearly, the show is being hurt by WWE Raw and (on the east coast) Monday Night Football, which combine to siphon off a huge share of male viewers.

Too bad, because The Playboy Club is a quality show. Guess I'll enjoy it for as long as I can.

So Let Me Get This Straight -- You're Complaining About Hot Women in Tight Leather?

Anne Hathaway plays Catwoman in next summer's The Dark Knight Rises. Hathaway's a fine choice for this role. Dressed down, she has the pasty, plain Jane look of a bookwormish Selina Kyle (Catwoman's alter ego) but Hathaway is also statuesque, and has the long lean figure you picture when you think of the classic feline villainess.

Last week, the first photos of Miss Hathaway on set in her Catwoman costume were released and apparently fanboys and other hardcore "Batman-o-philes" (should we call them "Batties") are up in arms. Judging from their comments, it seems the consensus is that this iteration of the Catwoman costume is too basic and boring and not "gadgety" enough. These very vocal fans (all guys I presume) want something a little more sexed up. Maybe something low-cut, like this version of Catwoman from the Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe video game?

Or maybe they were thinking a kinky two-piece, strappy number with matching whip like Halle Berry wore in the 2004 Catwoman movie?

Maybe leather's not the way to go at all. Maybe they prefer the vinyl outfit worn by Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns?

Or maybe go retro and put Hathaway in the original Catwoman costume worn by Julie Newmar opposite Adam West in the Batman TV series? (This shot comes from the Pop Culture Fiend Archives; I took it last month at the Smithsonian Museum of American History in Washington D.C.)

A bit of perspective people. What the heck are you complaining about? Anne Hathaway is hot and her outfit is tight. But if you're looking for something sexier to fantasize to, might I suggest trolling the internet for racy Catwoman fan art?

Cougar Time!

Over the last several years, pop culture has been enamored with cougars. And no, we're not talking about Snaggle-Puss, the anthropomorphic, well-dressed but slightly effeminate mountain lion that's always exiting stage left. We're talking about sexy older women in pursuit of younger men.

To this point, there's tons of blogs and websites (of varying ilks) dedicated to the appreciation of cougars, and we've also seen several cougar-related characters and storylines in recent TV shows and movies. Among our favorites: Izabella Scorupco (below) as Paige in the straight to DVD movie Cougar Club; Famke Jansen as Ava, who seduces Sean's son on Nip Tuck; Susan Blakely as self-help expert Angie, who sexes up Charlie Sheen on Two and Half Men; and of course Susan Lucci as Erica Kane, who has an affair with her daughter's ex-husband on All My Children.

Reality TV has also embraced the cougar. There was the Bachelor-knock off Age of Love, featuring a group of cougars competing for the affections of a younger man, and The Cougar, with a group of younger men vying for a 40 year old woman.

And ABC is just about to premiere its new fall series, Cougar Town, starring Courteney Cox as a fortysomething divorcee trying to get back in the dating scene.

By the way, it wasn't always "Courteney" (with an extra "e") was it? Didn't it used to be just plain old "Courtney"? We'll have to go back and watch the opening of Friends, Family Ties, Dream On and some of her other earlier series appearances. (Don't you love how these celebrities just decide mid-stream in their careers to alter the spelling or pronunciation of their names? Remember when Demi Moore was "DEM-ee"? Now it's pronounced "De-MEE". Or Terrell Owens. It was "Ter-REL", now it's "TER-el". WTF!... Am I right?!)

What Puts Your Butt in the Movie Seat?

Came across an interesting article written by Scott Mendelson over at the Huffington Post asking the question, "Is Megan Fox the Main Draw for Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen? Mendelson correctly points out that as far as the advanced hype for the film goes, "pretty much everything is Megan Fox-related."

I couldn't agree more. Each day, there seems to be new Megan Fox news, whether it's an interview in Entertainment Weekly, her comments on her relationship with Brian Austin Green, comparisons to Angelina Jolie, or photos of her at Transformers' UK, German, and LA premieres.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. When it comes to Megan Fox, I was in on the ground floor (all the way back to her days on Hope & Faith.) And for the record, I agree with the rest of the universe that she's pretty much the hottest thing walking.

But back to Mendelson's article. He makes an interesting point when he suggests that Fox may prove an exception to the rule that, "women will see a film just because a guy in it is cute, but men rarely do the same for actresses." I pondered this for quite a while and decided Mendelson's premise was true. Through the history of American cinema, whether it was Rudolph Valentino, Troy Donahue, Elvis Presley, or Zac Effron, women have a history of shelling out to see their heartthrobs on the big screen.

Guys are different. I tried to think of the last time I ponied up for a movie ticket solely based on an actress I had a thing for, and well... I couldn't think of any such occasions. I thought harder and considered the objects of two of my biggest celebrity crushes, Cameron Diaz and Halle Berry, and whether or not I ever saw any of their films strictly based on the fact that they were in it... I hadn't...

Over the years, I passed on many of Berry's films, including Gothika, and even Catwoman, in which she's featured in tight spandex for much of the film. As for Diaz, I did pay to see the chick flicks The Sweetest Thing and The Holiday (but I actually really liked both of those, so I get a pass.) I'm also proud to say I stood my ground and drew the line on seeing In Her Shoes and also plan on missing My Sister's Keeper, opening this Friday. In fact, I'm much more likely to see a movie starring an older or less attractive actress I think is talented and/or has a track record of being in good movies -- actresses like Kate Winslet, Laura Linney, Jodie Foster, Joan Allen, and Diane Keaton.

So what do you know?... I'm not shallow after all.

Feeling good about myself, I decided to dive deeper and think back to when I was younger. Turns out,  I actually HAVE gone to see movies purely to check out a hot actress but with one small proviso... nudity.

As a pubescent teenager, horny college student, unemployed post grad with too much free time, and even subsequent to all of that, I paid to see certain actresses bare some skin. I then came up with a collective list of specific examples that included among others:

Demi Moore in Striptease...

Saved By the Bell's Elizabeth Berkley in Showgirls...

 and Elle MacPherson in Sirens...

I embarrassedly admit that like so many other males of my species I stood on line and paid hard earned cash to see all of these, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have if it weren't for the nudity. And yes, I've even made a mental note to check out two upcoming releases -- Fox plays a possessed cheerleader in Jennifer's Body and Jessica Biel is a stripper in Powder Blue...

Guess you can forget what I said about not being shallow...

10 Reasons We Love Al Bundy

10. He takes no crap from anyone (especially fat women.)

9. He's a real All-American guy.
Al's the kind of guy we'd enjoy hanging out with -- he drives a Dodge, drinks beer, likes sports and John Wayne movies, and he frequents a local strip bar called "The Jiggly Room."

8. He turned us on to Psycho Dad
Al's favorite TV show glorified guns, violence, and matricide. Sadly, a Congressional hearing in season 9 led to its cancellation.

7. He's got cool friends.
Where would Al be without his running buddies, Jefferson, Griff, Ike, Bob Rooney, and Officer Dan?

6. Chicks dig him.
Pamela Anderson, Heather Parkhurst, Renee Tenison and Bobbi Brown (all pictured below), Shannon Tweed, Neriah Davis, Vanna White, Tawny Kitaen, Donna D'Errico, Shae Marks, Jerry Hall, Petra Verkaik, Brandi Brandt, Meilani Paul and the Swedish Bikini Team all guested on Married and shared scenes with Al.

 5. He's great with the insults.

4. His daughter is hot!

3. He's the founder of No Ma'am.
With their motto of "Carpe Mammarium" ("Seize the hooters") the National Organization of Men Against Amazonian Masterhood does more fine work than Greenpeace, Feed The Children, and the Red Cross combined.

2. He scored 4 touchdowns in one game!

1. He makes us feel better about ourselves.
No matter how lousy our lives are, Al's is just a little bit worse. His neverending misery somehow cheers us up.

UPDATE: This Relationship Makes No Sense

Just a quick update on a post from back in February...

Apparently Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima is now pregnant by her husband of three months, NBA (and I use this term loosely) "star" Marko Jaric. This news is distressing, not just because this is possibly the most ridiculous pairing since some numb-knut decided to put broccoli on pizza, but also because it kind of ruins things. Allow me to explain as I address Adriana personally:

Adriana, please understand that supermodels like you have an obligation to stay single for as long as possible, so that regular schlubs can somehow feel like you're available. Yes, we all know there's absolutely no chance in hell the aforementioned schlubs will ever come within a thousand yards of you, much less meet or have a shot with you... but to quote Anthony Michael Hall in Weird Science"Why are you messing with the fantasy?"

Also Adriana, beautiful women like you, who get pregnant and then have babies, are like pristine new sports cars that get into a massive crash. Sure you can have it repaired and it may even run just the same, but in the back of your mind, you always know...

So Adriana, Heidi, and all of the rest of you, please, knock it off with the marriages and pregnancies!

Bring Back… Hardbodies

The feature film (and 80s Cinemax classic) Hardbodies was released 25 years ago this week. There's nothing really remarkable about this movie but it may deserve at least minor cult status thanks to its classic 80's-brand of raunchy humor, gratuitous nudity, and plain ole watchability (this in spite of the film's bad acting and dopey story.)

Like other movies of its ilk and era (e.g., The Malibu Bikini Shop, Hot Dog: The Movie, Fraternity Vacation) Hardbodies wasn’t very successful at the box office, but began to catch on after runs on late night cable. The film even earned a sequel (Hardbodies 2) which curiously was set in Italy, had almost an entirely new cast, and almost nothing to do with the original.

Hardbodies' plot centers on Scotty Palmer (Grant Cramer), a popular soCal surfer dude who’s enlisted by three middle-aged guys (a hairy guido, a southern good ole boy, and a fat loser) to help them score with the resident young beach babes.

Cramer later had a nice run on The Young and the Restless but is also known for his role in the comedy-horror cult classic, Killer Klowns from Outer Space. The only other memorable Hardbodies cast members are Courtney Gains as Scotty’s friend Rag (who portrayed teenage preacher Malachi in Children of the Corn) and the then unknown all-girl 80's band Vixen. The group appears in multiple scenes performing the songs "Computer Madness" and "Mr. Cool" but later had legit top 40 hits with "Edge of a Broken Heart" and "Cryin’".

As for those dozen or so beach babes (who naturally appear in various states of undress throughout the movie) true 80's cinephiles may recognize actresses Teal Roberts (Scotty’s girlfriend Kristi) as the stripper in Beverly Hills Cop II; Kathleen Kinmont from TV’s Renegade and the aforementioned Fraternity Vacation; perennial bikini contest competitor Leslee Bremmer; Kristi Somers from Tomboy, and Darcy DeMoss from Can’t Buy Me Love

All in all, Hardbodies is (at best) a bad movie but a guilty pleasure and one that many who were teenagers in the 80's might want to see again for old times sake. Unfortunately, it’s currently unavailable on DVD so let's hope that whoever holds the rights (RCA/Columbia Pictures?) will get their act together and bring Hardbodies back soon so we all don’t have to start trolling eBay for a used VHS copy.

Finally, if you're in the soCal area, the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles is having a one night only screening of Hardbodies on June 8th. In the meantime, enjoy the theme song -- it's painful to listen to but will still somehow get stuck in your head!

Shout Out to... Dara Torres!

Dara Torres is a 42 year old (as of yesterday) American swimmer, and the the only swimmer to compete (and medal) in five Olympic Games (1984, 1988, 1992, 2000, and 2008.) Last year, after eight years in retirement, she made an amazing comeback and won both the 50 and 100 meter freestyle at the US National Championships and at the Olympics in Beijing, Torres won three silver medals. (And to boot, she has the sickest abs on a 40+ year old woman you'll ever see.)

Torres attributes her longstanding success to her unique training regimen, which she discusses in
her new book, Age is Just a Number: Achieve Your Dreams at Any Age that was released last week.

What the Hell Happened to Maxim?

I took a look at some of my old
Maxim magazines and noticed that back when it was in its prime (around the late 90s, early 2000s) the magazine was substantially thicker (i.e., it had way more content) than it does now. The December 2000 issue with cover girl Tara Reid, for example, topped out at a whopping 292 pages, the below recent issue featuring Hilary Duff was a measly ninety-six. I know that in the magazine business, ad dollars are way down, and fewer ads means less content -- but 292 down to 96? That's a two-thirds reduction in pages.

I was on board early with Maxim (issue #3 with Carmen Electra on the cover) and always liked its smartass, unapologetically sexist tone, as well its focus on the things that truly matter to us men -- sex, sports, entertainment, gadgets, and of course, women.

So in honor of the magazine's better days, here are some of our best photos from Maxims past (pulled from the Pop Culture Fiend Archives:)

This Relationship Makes No Sense

"This relationship makes no sense... just like Marco Jaric being in the NBA."

This stinging but oh so accurate comment by an anonymous Yahoo Sports blog reader pretty much sums up exactly how I feel about the just released news that Brazilian Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima secretly married NBA "star" Marco Jaric of the Memphis Grizzlies in Wyoming over Valentine's Day weekend.

Okay, there's so much wrong with this, I don't know where to begin.

First, how in the hell are these two a match? She's from beautiful, tropical Brazil. He's from everyone's favorite vacation destination, war-torn Serbia.

She's one of the most successful and highest paid models in the world. He's currently averaging a whopping 1.8 ppg playing for a team that's 26 games under .500 and last in their division.

Oh, and she's one of the most attractive women in the world, and he's not even one of the most attractive Memphis Grizzlies.

You get the idea.

And to make matters worse, Adriana claimed to be a virgin, telling GQ magazine that, "Sex is just for after marriage."

Great... While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it.

So yeah, we're jealous. But we still say this perverse relationship is an affront against all of humanity and ultimately doomed. He's in Memphis, or on the road playing games seven months a year, and she's jetting all over the world doing photoshoots, runway work, or guesting on Ugly Betty or How I Met Your Mother.

We're thinking sooner or later Adriana's amnesia's gonna wear off, or she'll catch a glimpse of herself and Marco in a mirror, or perhaps the universe will self-correct itself in some other way.

Until that time, Adriana and Marco's marriage officially goes to number one on our list of most inexplicable celebrity pairings ever, just ahead of Heidi Klum/Seal and Julia Roberts/Lyle Lovett.

Deal Or No Deal Girls Branching Out

Recently noticed that Deal Or No Deal briefcase model Hayley has a role in the new movie Fired Up, opening February 20th. Judging from this trailer, it looks like Bring it On meets Sorority Boys with a smattering of American Pie Presents Band Camp.

In any case (no pun intended) it seems Hayley is a trained actress with a number of screen credits on her resume. Who knew?

It's nice to see the DOND girls are getting more exposure. For the record, I'd like to see more of...

Jenelle...

Megan...

Lindsay...

Lisa...

and Anya.

Anya, by the way, is featured in this commercial for Skinit.com.
